The relationship between humans and animals will be explored by children at Ramsgate Arts Primary School.
As portion of its special link with Turner Contemporary in Margate, pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 have visited the Animals and Us exhibition.
They worked alongside the gallery ‘navigators’ to formulate their own themes and concepts, inspired with the acclaimed exhibition where artists question and challenge our attitudes towards other species.

Turner Contemporary says on the show: “From our closest companions for the food on our plates, from age-old symbols for our animal selves, this exhibition explores the way refer to and differentiate ourselves from different species.”
In the exhibition artists, scientists, cultural historians yet others shared their perspectives on animals and us.

Pupils visited the gallery and checked out the various exhibits; additionally, they created their very own animal t-shirts from recycled clothing; invented their own personal animals and created a bestiary book, and produced screen printing images for display in the school.
Turner ‘navigator’ Jo Ursell launched the joint project inside an assembly where she discussed attitudes to animals along with what pets the pupils had. She said: “We are sure to explore our relationship with animals C how you treat them, and in what way they treat us.”

Head of School Nick Budge said: “It had been a fascinating project once again highlighted the importance of our link with the Turner Contemporary Gallery.
“To be capable to are employed the gallery and spend time absorbing the weather on this brilliant exhibition is undoubtedly an inspiring learning experience.
“The gallery team worked quite well with his children and it is clear and understandable that they really encouraged these phones think deeply and inspired those to produce thought-provoking and colourful waste artwork.

“The feedback with the children and teachers may be positive and that liaison with all the gallery reinforces our act as an authority primary arts school.”
