The Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, formerly the Institute of commercial Engineers, can be a student organization at YSU welcoming all industrial engineering majors and minors.
“We’re sort of changing our presence on campus,” said Zach Thompson, president of YSU’s IISE and junior IE major. “We’re planning to try and do a little more fundraisers and find involved and acquire our name on the market as being a group.”
IISE has both student and professional sections in the neighborhood. Zach explains there presently exists numerous advantages to connecting basic groups.
“We can interact with professionals and find our names in existence and network, they usually give a bunch of services for all of us,” said Zach.
As a YSU IISE member, the scholars can receive discounts on various certifications for engineers.
The IISE members also attend conferences while in the Great Lakes region where they’ve a selection of submitting papers. One conference that they’re attending this academic year is hosted by Ohio University in February.
“We was without any last year, however year we’re thinking of having some professionals from in this line of business also come in and talk with us, even some local companies,” said Zach. “It’ll be nice given that they can speak to us by what it really is similar to our area.”
IISE offers Lean Green Belt training and certification this November and Six Sigma Green Belt training and certification in February, both for a discounted rate. All majors are welcome and asked to get these certifications.
