The annual STEM Showcase was a huge success this year, to learn student projects presented than ever. On Saturday, April 23, prospective students, current students, parents, faculty, and a lot more filled Moser Hall to view exactly what the students of STEM happen to be concentrating on all semester (and also for some, all seasons).
Student organizations displayed some of their annual creations, for example AIChE’s Chem-E-Car, ASCE’s Concrete Canoe, and SAE’s Baja Car. Many of the other notable projects on display were the automated snow thrower, that may be controlled using a phone, as well as the digital theremin, that is a musical instrument who makes an extremely unique sound.
One pair of students won the Ohio Academy of Science Research Award with regards to project concerning sloth muscle research. Tyler Tsangaris-Braatz, Paije Kiraly, Amanda Svenson, and Abdel-Ruhman Yusuf, coupled with faculty mentor Dr. Butcher, examined the pc muscle fibers of sloths to look for the efficiency with their energy use when hanging from trees.
The research award grants them $100 as well as a publication to the Ohio Academy of Sciences website along with their newsletter.
Also in the showcase, guests ingested around along with the for Innovation in Additive Manufacturing as well as brand new Launch Lab.
To conclude the day’s activities, Dean Steelant congratulated each of the students on their own successes and inducted new members into your STEM Leadership Society.
