A new-look learning programme is underway to mark the start of the fresh school year at Ramsgate Arts Primary.
The RAPS Topic provides a new method of the school when teaching foundation subjects including science, geography, history, art and design technology.
It will switch the existing ‘international primary curriculum’ and will bring “a fresh approach towards learning for our children,” said deputy head teacher Hanna Beech who may be leading the work.

She said: “Each school term, year groups could have their own specific topic which will explore comprehensive. Although topic’s focus is based on around a certain subject, for instance history, it can embrace all tasks of our curriculum to provide a vibrant, subject-rich learning experience.

“Topics are begun using an Art To start out activity that explores the kind of theme through the arts, and that is our school speciality.”
Topics along the school are varied and interesting including Earth and Beyond, Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds and Eco-Warriors.

Mrs Beech said: “Topics may have core facts and knowledge as the strong cornerstone but pupils will even explore subjects widely to provide them an extensive base of knowledge.”
“The answer to our new topic-based curriculum is enabling pupils to cultivate perception of themselves along with the wider world. They’ve got the opportunity to make links between knowledge across subjects, themes as well as year groups, meaning their overall learning are going to be connected and interesting.”

Each RAPS Topic are going to be further exposed to life by workshops with visiting specialists through educational visits. An interest finale involves pupils leading a speech to oldsters highlighting what they have learned and discovered.
This may be the first major initiative driven by Mrs Beech who joined RAPS right at the end of last school year. She said: “Ramsgate Arts Primary is usually an energising destination for a work. Many experts have an exilerating potential for me to participate in the RAPS team with this particular proud to become a part of an expert primary school, which values and promotes the arts whilst keeping learning in the center of all it will.

“The new curriculum is simply the introduction of the some initiatives we’re also preparing for the age ahead. As a new school, we are in fantastic position to develop bespoke initiatives, that could enable our pupils to thrive across all subjects.”
