The official Children In need of help song has been performed in British Sign Language (BSL)? to your packed audience by pupils at Newington Community Primary School in Ramsgate.
As Jamie Cullum’s evocative song Love Is set in A Picture competed in the main hall speakers, a team of pupils from Years 3 to 6, who will be learning signing language, demonstrated their skills to interpret the lyrics.

It was section of an action-packed, fundraising presentation that highlighted what sort of children benefit from the work with the Children short of funds charity.
Children and staff dressed up in a multitude of colourful and crazy outfits with Pudsey Bear spots. Pupils and staff also had their faces painted within a rainbow of colors and, to complete the fundraising day, teachers volunteered to take care of a soaking as pupils donated to pelt these wet sponges and sprayed these with water guns.

Teacher Hannah Pullman, that’s charity leader along at the school, co-ordinated the events that raised 500 for any charity. She said: “The response may be fantastic additionally, the effort from all folks that taken part was brilliant.”

She explained how she found develop the Sing Sign Squad within the school: “I accustomed to volunteer in a inclusive theatre group called Inspirations whose aim will be to make theatre offered to all children and show no barriers towards disabilities. Most of the children that attended were deaf or hard of hearing thus i began pick-up sign language through making contact with them and learn. We would also learn sign language to songs and that is where I’ve selected a lot of my signing.

“I have continued my love of learning sign language also in September this current year I started the Sing Sign Squad where Newington children learn sign language to current pop songs. Sign language is an effective skill to acquire and is a means of expressing yourself. Head teacher Cliff Stokes praised the best way Newington once more united that can help others. He said: “Our major fundraising events always demonstrate ab muscles strong sense of community at our school and our collective desire to help others.
