Hundreds turn out to enjoy Newington Rocks festival

More than 800 people discovered to have the thrill at the Newington Rocks festival on Saturday (June 30).

The family fun event staged by Newington Community Primary School in their grounds raised a cracking 1000 to the Pilgrims Hospice.

On an exceedingly warm summer’s day, heat was resulted in by musicians who delivered high energy sets over the afternoon in support of the charity.

They were music teacher and singer/guitarist Warwick Eldred plus top Kent bands Funkle Pie, Hyperactive 80s and Ignition. With regards to they delivered numerous music from all over the decades between pop, soul and funk to rock classics.

As well as as being a fantastic family picnic afternoon, supplemented by refreshments, soft serve, strawberries and burgers on discount sales, there was many different activities for youngsters to educate yourself regarding.

These included a train roundabout, bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, boxing kangaroo suits, face painting, traditional fairground coconut shy, Lil’ Jockeys horse rides, hook the duck, go karts, football skills, plus a Pilgrims Hospice craft stall as well as the tombola stand.

Emma Manning, who co-ordinated the festival, said: “It would be a fantastic festival. Let me thank our musicians, staff, friends from the school, folks that ran rides and stalls, and those that sponsored the festival. They helped to make everthing possible.”

Head teacher Cliff Stokes said: “Newington concerns its belief in strong community values also it was lovely that countless families and friends came together for an additional fantastic afternoon of fun and music in aid of a really worthwhile charity. Thanks check out our hardworking organisers and fantastic performers.”
