This year’s YSU Concrete Canoe team comes back within the June 20-22 Nationals Competition at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus using an 11th place victory plus an experience designed to keep going for a lifetime.
“I am very proud of the canoe and my team, and so i couldn’t have sought after a much better experience. Planning to nationals was an honor can be to realize again,” Team Captain Taylor Simcox said. In addition they intend on reaching Nationals again this year.
The women took 8th invest their endurance race and also the men placed 10th. Along with placing well from the endurance races, the group also place 6th inside final product, consisting of the canoe, the display, and also the cut-a-way that belongs when using the canoe. Due to the weather, several of the races were cancelled, but there’s still a good amount of excitement for everyone. The canoes were also weight and swamp tested. Some canoes went home without trouble, whereas some went home with bits of the hull missing or cracked.
