A Cyclone heads to the Super Bowl

When Super Bowl LII is played next Sunday in Minnesota, Iowa State University alumnus Jordan Pierce have a front-row seat.

But the 2015 graduate in athletic training will never be sitting much. For an athletic training intern with the Gambling sports medicine staff, he’ll show up at the core of the action, helping players to stay healthy and prevent injuries.

“As a specialist, I aim to stay the main point on sports medicine best practices,” Pierce said. “I wish to contain a positive effect on the athletes I am employed with which enable it to hopefully help them to navigate challenges.”

Pierce’s professional preparation found an increase while at Iowa State. As well as his coursework and involvement with state and district athletic training associations, he previously ample chance to work together with the Cyclone football team. Iowa State carries a strong tradition of sending well-qualified athletic training students to intern with the NFL. The students have worked with teams such as Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Saints, and Arizona Cardinals. Many of them, which include Evan Craft using the Kansas City Chiefs, land full-time jobs as athletic trainers.

Pierce had numerous the opportunity to contribute while at Iowa State.

“The love of the profession that I cultivated at Iowa State stays by himself today because of the experiences and opportunities afforded me because of the great Iowa State sports medicine staff,” Pierce said. “Having the chance to experience big-time competitive sports, for example Iowa State football games plus a bowl game, Iowa State wrestling matches, and large 12 tournament championships in wrestling and track and field, reduced the problem to develop comprehension with the demands for the profession that i’m so thankful for.”

As Pierce prepares for Sunday’s big game, he’s quick to exhibit his pride at being not simply a Patriot, but a Cyclone.
