Ramsgate Arts Primary children enjoy spook-tacular Halloween fun

Ghoulish games and creepy creativity gave kids a Halloween to consider at Ramsgate Arts Primary School.

Reception class pupils aged 4 and 5 enjoyed a screamtastic day stuffed with fun activities and learning.

As part of the Spooky Arts Day, the 60 youngsters wearing their favourite spooky costumes plus the colourful array included witches, vampires, ghosts, zombies or even a few fairies and unicorns.

Fun learning activities while in the specially decorated Halloween classrooms included pumpkin carving, creating spooky recipes for instance worm pie or spider cakes, learning a dance routine to Monster Mash, games, a tea party and dancing to hits like Thriller.

Reception teacher Sophie Spurrier said: “All RAPS Reception children taken part in a ‘Spooky Arts Day’. “They were excited since the classroom were being decorated so they were keen to face up and give away to their friends what character these folks were dressed as. Only then do we learnt a spooky song together and added actions.

“The children were then immersed in a large amount different art activities across all aspects of learning. These used a good amount of techniques including printing, painting, chalk rubbing, and weaving.

“In our outdoor play area there were lots of sensory activities for instance pumpkin carving, how to find the eyes while in the foam and seeking the spiders within the worms (pasta). There initially were also opportunities for youngsters to take pleasure from role play, for example making gruesome food concoctions in the kitchen space or making spells when using the colourful mud within the mud kitchen.

“After this they left for our dance studio and learnt a routine for the Monster Mash. After lunch they enjoyed a disco with numerous party food, games plus much more art.

“Although we’ve art pursuits like this daily, having entire days dedicated to the humanities is basically essential as it allows the youngsters to totally immerse themselves in art and satisfaction and receives a starting place for other areas of learning.

“It came down to great to check out many of the children so excited to know and participate and we also saw new friendships starting to form. “We cannot wait to get another arts day in reception very soon.”
