
Students and staff marched along Stadium Road Monday, waving greater than 50 large flags?representing countries from all over the globe.
“Awareness within the rest of the world is very important,” said Gabby Khawly, 21, a biology?student at UF. Gabby had learned about the big event just hours before and felt she had to search. She held one flag for?Peru and the other for Lebanon.
The UF International Center organized the flag parade to start up International Education week.?The event was organized to “raise awareness about international education and UF’s global?mission,” reported by an argument.
Marchers started with the West loading the main Hub and walked down toward Turlington at 10?a.m. They stopped and faced 1 another from either side in the street, standing in solidarity as?they waved the flags of many of the countries represented by international students and?scholars on campus.
“This is my new to carry my flag in behalf of Koreans,” said Han Kwon, 25, an exploration?assistant at UF who will be from Korea and contains visited the usa for 10 months.
“I am so grateful being a Korean to support my flag of all the countries,” Kwon said. “It’s an?honor.”
