Music plays a large and important element of children’s creative development at Upton Junior School in Broadstairs.
A variety of lunchtime after school clubs offers pupils of various age groups many styles and is particularly exposed to anyone from beginners onwards.
Whether it is the choir, the rockband, the string group, ukulele and recorder clubs, or throughout the timetable music lessons, you can find encouragement to your young singers and players to get involved, learn and better their skills, enjoy yourself.
In recognition of the company’s drive to get music for its pupils, Upton has long been invited to turn into a Music Mark School Member by Kent Music.
The invitation to Upton is produced by Rosie Saxton, Kent Music Membership and Events Administrator. Inside a letter to go of School Darci Arthur she said: “We would firstly want to many thanks for all the hard work your colleagues do today make certain that pupils your school have the ability to access and interact that has a high-quality music education.

Miss Arthur said: “The award underpins every one of the efforts our music teacher Peter Langridge and staff placed in while using the pupils, plus the enthusiastic include the children receive from families at shows and events at college plus in the town.
“Music is a crucial part of life at Upton so we have got a selection of talented young ensemble, group, choral and solo performers who play in a variety of productions and shows month in month out.
“Visits from professional brands like Kent Music are necessary and help reinforce our creative arts learning.”
Years 6 pupils Ted, Amelia, Willow and Sophie joined Mr Langridge to acquire the certificate for any school.
They all play and sing during the school’s various music groups. Willow said: “I love music at Upton C it always puts a smile in my small face,” while Sophie added: “Music will make you feel a wide variety emotions as soon as be or sing. Its lovely.” Amelia said: “I have enjoyed music ever since i began in year 3 and it’s also my favourite lesson,” while Ted agreed and added: “It rocks !.”

A recent inspiring music workshop invited pupils to educate yourself regarding a range of home-made instruments.
The Bach for the Future roadshow delivered by Kent Music saw pupils coming to the leading four groups of instruments C woodwind, strings, brass and percussion.
They were then shown home-made versions of identical instruments. This included using tubing and piping to restore a trombone, a bucket/pole and powerful combo to act as a double bass, and straws to generate a clarinet.
During the roadshow, pupils listened to many music from rock to classical, film scores to pop.
Mr Langridge said: “The children joined in, singing along to well-known tunes and answering and asking questions of our three guests.
“They thoroughly enjoyed the expensive vacation event and hopefully a host of additional ones will feel motivated to fill up a device and begin playing.”
