Roll Up, Roll away..The maximum Show filled with dazzling dances, sizzling songs, amazing acrobatics, glitz and glam took centre stage when the big top came to town at Newington Community Primary School in Ramsgate.
The school’s theatre space was reconstructed as a circus ring as the Year 6 adaptation of the finest Showman became their showpiece finale before they move on to university.

The cast made a high-energy, fast-moving, colourful extravaganza that entertained pupils and families on the number of performances that won huge ovations.
Teacher Taralee Kennedy, who directed the show, said: “The aim ended up being to make this the show of most shows, literally. Year 6 pupils wanted us make use of The best Showman about circus master PT Barnum.

“We adapted the storyplot to restore your own journey with the year group at the same time, and now we wove into your storyline music from all the West End shows this group has witnessed in their time along at the school, such as Lion King, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and, naturally, The best Showman.

“Our rags to riches story is really a celebration strategies aspirations and ambition can bring about achievement – some text around any Newington pupil.
“It is about a little daughter boy who dreams big and causes it to be big by having a fabulous circus that celebrates diversity and difference, with show-stopping songs including ‘The biggest Show’, ‘This is Me’ and ‘Rewrite the Stars’.”

Adding to emotion with the production were photos around the large video screen through the stage that charted the progress from the children using their company initial steps for the school to the final big production farewell.

Head Teacher Cliff Stokes said: “It was a dazzling show plus the children really brought activity is someone’s. It was actually a wonderful production all round and my thanks head over to each of the pupils and staff who worked so faithfully for making another blockbuster.

“It had been a lovely method for our Year 6 to cap their fantastic journey here and we all wish them every success with their new educational pathway.

“Year 6 will be back as of this show with pride and understand that their last big hurrah has set the bar high indeed C but we all know the challenge will be met this year as well as Newington the show must take.”
