Thanet-based Discovery Planet hold free science and creative workshops after being granted 10,000 outreach funding from your Royal Society of Chemistry.
The sessions will likely be on the theme of plastic and is delivered by scientists from Kent University’s School of Physical Sciences.
They will begin having a beachside introduction to problems that plastic can result in, and therefore are accompanied by three in-depth examinations on the issue through hands on activities and experiments, particularly be considering the exciting role of chemistry and chemists down the road of plastic.
Following Discovery Planet’s usual schedule, weekly sessions will likely be for pre-booked school groups on a Friday, as well as the general public shed into on a Saturday. Sessions is going to take place on the hour every hour from 10am to 3pm (the very last show starts at 3pm). With thanks to the Royal Society of Chemistry and ?support from Dreamland the workshops is going to be at liberty to attend.

The first sessions are going to be held for the Nayland Rock Promenade Shelter, Marine Drive (opposite Margate Station) on October 12-13. These incorporate a beach cool sorting the findings to contribute data on the Marine Conservation Society’s National Survey, ‘Beachwatch’.
The next sessions, on October 19-20, is going to be held on the Hall from the Sea, Dreamland, and involve experiments to understand what plastic is, plus the various types.
After a rest for half term, these sessions at Dreamland, on November 2-3 and November 16-17, examine how plastic waste can be taken care of; next the cutting-edge research being conducted at Kent University to make plastic a sustainable material. Participants will get the opportunity ask the scientists numerous questions as they like in order to find the opportunity careers designed to those enthusiastic about chemistry.
To make things more fun, participants on Saturdays has the ability to experience a resourceful activity inspired by scientific learning.
There’s you don’t have to book on Saturdays, just deliver on the hour. It’s appropriate for anyone from age 8-108!
