After two hurricanes in the first nine weeks, North Central Florida schools are scrambling for making in the days.
Hurricane Hermine, which hit Florida at the start of September, caused closures for many of us schools in the community on Friday, Sept. 2.
Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 storm in the event it?wreaked havoc along?Florida’s new england a couple weeks ago, caused school closures on Friday, Oct. 7 in the majority of counties and Thursday Oct. 6 for some.
In Florida, school days missed a result of a state of emergency, that was issued by the governor for storms, still need consist unless a waiver is distributed from the state.
While many counties are still waiting on approval, some already have scheduled their make-up days:
Alachua County will comprise Sept. 2 and Oct. 7 closures on March 31 and Oct. 21, respectively. If at a later date is missed a result of hurricane, Jan. 17 will be employed to recover it.
Lafayette County closed Sept. 2 and Oct. 7, but no make-up days are essential for that county as the school year is more than required.
Marion County closed Sept. 2 and Oct. 7. Sept. 2 will likely be created April 14 but no decision has been created for Oct. 7.
Putnam County closed Sept. 2 and Oct. 6 and seven. Sept. 2 might be made that has a built-in an extension box during the year, and also a decision for Oct. 6 and 7 will most likely be made along at the Oct. 18 Putnam County School Board meeting.
Dixie County is seeking a waiver with the state with no make-up days for being required after multiple closures in 2010, including Aug. 10 as a consequence of local flooding, Sept. 1 and also for Hurricane Hermine and Oct. 7 for Hurricane Matthew.
Union County?closed Sept. 2 and Oct. 7.?No make-up day is necessary for Sept. 2 caused by built-in time during the year, but no decision has been given for Oct. 7.
As school board meetings are stuck counties, more make-up days will be announced. Many counties use teacher work days to produce within the days missed.
