YSU STEM would rather highlight student achievements and experiences! Please email us about students who have accomplished excellent achievements at?[email protected]?and we can get the saying out (about our?exceptional students!
Jared Vanasdale is really a junior mechanical engineering student at YSU. Within the last several months, Jared has become recognized by lot of companies and organizations for his achievements.
Recently, Jared created an invention that will solve a near 15-year manufacturing issue for his co-op employer, the Goodyear Tire Company. A state title of Jared’s invention is “The Improved Extruder System”. The invention Jared created addressed a major issue seen by Goodyear during the occurrence of stock rubber stripping, utilized in the tire making process, breaking off while in the extrusion processes. Jared has a mechanism that almost entirely eliminates this challenge. Ultimately, the invention can establish less downtime between the manufacturing of tires and improve the efficiency in the process of building the tires too. When using the decrease in time and amount of products used, Goodyear could potentially lower the price of tires for consumers. Goodyear is enthusiastic to have found an effective answer to this problem and maybe they are especially proud that particular of their total prided co-op’s is a inventor.
Jared initially filed an Invention Disclosure so that the invention can’t be studied and claimed first by another company. However, Goodyear has recently decided to proceed with patenting the device. Given that the invention isn’t fully patented, there’s limited information that Jared could reveal into the public. The latest status within the invention is “patent pending” yet it is in the final stages of patenting, as Jared has already signed the legal document, the Promise of Inventorship.
Originally, Jared linked with Goodyear after having a colleague of his, Carmen Marinucci, got him enthusiastic about the business in his sophomore year of school. Goodyear offered him an info session that allowed him to make connections. Shortly after, he created a co-op relationship along with them.
“All of my professors additionally, the rigorous mechanical engineering curriculum have forced me to succeed at Goodyear and make my invention. Associated with the of my invention, I have received an incredible education for the mechanics and properties of solids and even ways to design machinery efficiently,” said Jared. “Most importantly, In my opinion YSU has instilled within me the grit to outweigh adversity and keep working harder as opposed to surrounding me.
Outside of his co-op experience within Goodyear, Jared has found time for it to take a course at LaneLifeTrans to become an EMT. He really enjoys the concept of being on top lines and helping people in need. Jared can be another part of the YSU Hockey Team where he was named captain like a sophomore in 2016. Proudly, Jared holds a 4.0 GPA well into his third year of faculty.
This year alone, he received the award for Co-op Student of this year in the YSU STEM Awards Dinner and features also be the only YSU student nominated for a finalist for that 2018 National STEM Expy’s.
Make sure you be wary of this! Jared’s got excellent achievements in advance of him and always has some misconception his sleeve. We wouldn’t be surprised whenever we see more great inventions from him later on!
