Efrain Velez is really a junior at YSU that’s studying Industrial and Systems Engineering that has a minor in Mathematics. Earlier this summer, Efrain had the oppertunity to intern at Exal Corporation.
The company is a top producer inside can and bottle industry. Exal makes bottles many different brands like Monster, Bud Light, Budweiser, Dove, and Loreal Paris. All products made within the company are packaged in-house and shipped out completely the flower to the producing companies. There are a couple of types of certification at YSU that have to Efrain’s career, Lean Six Sigma and 6 Sigma. Lean Six Sigma deals primarily with non-numerical issues like efficiency, reducing wastes by reduction of what you might, and helping the workplace. Six Sigma is number-based ideology.
During his freshman year at YSU, Efrain made a decision to go ahead and take Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification course that’s offered to any majors on campus.
“I recommend highly this course to anyone,” said Efrain. “This was really helpful me because most companies want their employees to get such type of certification.”
Efrain, who was a little sophomore at the moment he was hired at Exal, outshone many junior and senior applicants as a result of his Lean Six Sigma certification.
“Getting this certificate really advances you and also enables you to get noticed to companies,” said Efrain. “It tells these companies that you will want many you happen to be willing to exceed expectations inside your job.”

At Exal, Efrain is assessed for Operational Excellence Intern. They’re directly in the head director for Operation Intelligence, Mr. Oscar Mayet. Efrain continues to look at Exal this semester and wishes to work there provided they can.
“Exal is sort of a very close-knit family i love that about my job,” said Efrain.
By working at Exal, Efrain has found that he hopes to specialize his career in industrial and systems management.
Outside of his internship, Efrain is owned by the STEM Leadership Society, the Honors College, the YSU Institute of business and Systems Engineers (IISE), additionally, the Choose Ohio First?program. They have recently been a participant in the Honors College’s Big and Little program, iPals, and English Conversation Partners. He hopes to get more involved on campus before his time is up at YSU.
“A little fun fact about use is i always enjoy to sing,” said Efrain. “I was a part of the choirs and drama club throughout high school graduation, thus if all else fails, I’m testing for The actual.”
