A three-year study discovered that domestic violence offenders who completed a completely new intervention program brought to life by an Iowa State University professor showed significantly fewer offenders – a virtually 50 % difference – reoffended and were charged this year after treatment.
The new method by Amie Zarling, a clinical psychologist and assistant professor in human development and family studies, is termed Achieving Change Through Values-Based Behavior program, or ACTV (pronounced active). Zarling partnered with all the Iowa Department of Corrections to pilot her program. The desired info is published online by the journal?Psychology of Violence.
