Upton Junior School pupil Seren Keen and her mum Tracey have risen in excess of 1,000 for your Macmillan Cancer Relief ‘brave the shave’ campaign.
Seren, from Year 3, saw their heads shave appeal advert on television and want to help support it but didn’t can do it alone C so mum entered into convert it into a Keen family double.
Initially they hoped to raise around 500 but Upton decided to support the head shave in their summer fair and parents were keen to compliment the fundraiser, creating Seren and Tracey’s initial target being smashed and over doubled.
Sam and Matt from Malcolm’s barber shop in Broadstairs volunteered to shave the flowing locks with the charity duo C and then sportingly decided to let Seren and Tracey shave their head of hair along with the main fundraising.
Tracey said: “Cancer is one area that touches everyone somehow. Concerning two pals who’ve overcome cancer of the breast. Its indiscriminate rather than fair.
“The true warriors are the ones who fight the battle each day, and in case a Macmillan nurse might help them along with their families get through the ordeal, we presume privileged becoming a part of making which happen.
“They consider it Brave the Shave, but really, we are really not the brave ones. There exists a choice, we’re healthy, and our hair will re-grow.
“I am so very proud of Seren. She knows folks will stare, but that is section of her message – don’t judge people due to the fact they look, judge them because when they behave and treat others.
“Our hair continues to be donated for the Little Princess Trust which are wigs for the children with cancer. So we reach support two wonderful causes.”
Deputy Head of Upton Dave Walker said: “We are really satisfied with Seren for showing the initiative to compliment this worthwhile appeal, too as for utilizing it.
