Project Leo Helps Parents Track Autistic Children

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities along at the University of Florida is working with Project Lifesaver International to deliver radio transmitter devices to kids autism spectrum disorders. The devices shall be utilized to hunt down children should they wander and stay lost.

The pilot program, called Project Leo, is state-funded as well as UF CARD was among the list of three centers selected to join. These were capable to purchase 80 devices they’re in the position to provide to families coping with ASD for nothing.

The device includes transmitter, a watch-like device that should visit the wrist or ankle, as well as the tracking part which is housed at the sheriff’s department.

However, this pilot program may even help families who simply can’t afford GPS programs for days on end durations. Howard stated that she and her family were with a GPS service that linked with their mobile phone devices but before long, it became expensive.

Gene Saunders, Founder and CEO of Project Lifesaver International, claims that the air transmitting products are also more reliable as opposed to GPS programs so they last longer. Project Lifesaver International requires agencies who employ this program to be trained and certified due to its use.
