This year’s hackathon begins at 10 p.m. on Feb. 5 and definitely will run until 10 a.m. on Feb. 7.
Doors open at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5.
Joe Duncko, chair of Penguin Hackers, stated that they may have made many changes from last year’s HackYSU.
“The biggest one men and women will notice will be the venue,” he stated. “We’re not executing it in Meshel Hall this coming year; we are going to take the DeBartolo Stadium Club in Stambaugh Stadium?. So I’m really excited. It is just a great view, wonderful room.”
Major League Hacking is scheduled to come back this season, bringing with these Oculus Rifts, fitness trackers, along with other hardware for participants to tinker with.
According to Joe, but not only are staff within the CSIS department and YSU’s IEEE student chapter destined to be associated with this, but representatives from Drund as well as the Youngstown Business Incubator are probably going to be give act as guides and mentors.
The goal in this hackathon will be to pull in 100 YSU students to sign up.
“It appears we’ll don’t have a problems hitting the non-YSU student quota-we have got a lot of groups from Waterloo, Kent, and many more who have registered and are generally going to boost here. So right now we’ve been just working on hyping YSU students,” Joe explained.
For penguins not used to the hackathon, it is a free event where you can try new software and hardware and try a team of fellow students to produce something fun and various. You may also win a prize from Major League Hacking.
Students and mentors in search of additional information should e-mail [email protected] or visit HackYSU.com to join.
