UPDATE: Suspect, 15, In Custody; Bradford Schools To Reopen Tuesday

Updated, Aug. 30, 2016 at 4:30 a.m.:?Some Bradford County School District parents declared they weren’t aware of the school closings in Bradford County caused by a threatening voicemail aimed Bradford Junior high school.

Misty Key, 31, has two children who attend schools in Bradford County. Key said she didn’t acquire a phone call through the Bradford County School District nor from Starke Elementary School and Bradford Middle School where her daughter and son attend respectively.?She learned about the closure when reaching Starke Elementary School to shed off her daughter. The law greeted her when she got there and said about the threat.

Key said she recently moved to Bradford County and said she doesn’t know why she didn’t be given a text message.

“I was disappointed it has been one month in to the school year, as well as the school was being power down,” Key said. “I was more disappointed that they are using one system to help make these calls.”

Bradford County Superintendent of colleges Chad Farnsworth said there were hardly any individuals who didn’t have the call-out message on the school closure. He explained it’s likely that the oldsters who didn’t be given a phone call produce an outdated cellular phone number.

“We encourage our parents to make sure while using the front office at their school to guarantee we’ve got their correct number on file,” he said.

Not each parent expressed issues with how officials handled the situation. Tasha Holloway, a Bradford County resident, said she learned about the school closure on Facebook. She?said she was worried but happy with?local law enforcement.

“I think Bradford County Sheriff’s Office did whatever they should to handle the situation, and they’re doing an excellent job,” she said.

Updated, 12:22 p.m.: A 15-year-old Bradford County School District student is charged with making Sunday’s threat against Bradford Middle School and often will face expulsion.

The student was submitted by a friend today, in line with a press conference this evening with Starke Police Department Maj. Barry Warren and Bradford County School District Superintendent Chad Farnsworth.

Bradford schools will reopen tomorrow to comprehend security, officials said with the press conference.

Updated, 12:01 p.m.: The Starke Police Department contains a an associate custody connected to the threat built to Bradford Middle School on Sunday night.

Because it’s a juvenile, no name will likely be released, Starke police told WUFT.

The Bradford County School District turned off?its?schools for today?after Starke’s Bradford Junior high school received a threat by voicemail on Sunday night.

The nature on the threat just isn’t yet known.

Parents were notified on the phone with the closures about 6 a.m. today, once the district’s robo-call system transmitted the know that schools will be closed, using the district’s Facebook page. On the page, the district posted about 11:30 p.m. Sunday night proclaiming that schools will be closed today.

Many of those who commented on?the page were grateful that the district was utilizing the threat seriously, while other people indicated that these were upset the robo-call system would not notify them earlier.
